ChemDrain® Pipe/Fittings System
for chemical waste applications

ChemDrain® CPVC chemical waste drain system offers a safe, durable, and economical alternative for the disposal of acids, bases, salts, and a wide range of organic media in institutional, academic, and commercial laboratories. CPVC, or chlorinated polyvinyl chloride, has been used in a variety of chemical-processing piping system applications for more than 30 years.

For more information on Charlotte Pipe's ChemDrain CPVC Pipe and Fittings System for chemical waste applications, request at no charge our ChemDrain® Technical Manual or our ChemDrain® Brochure.

CPVC is an attractive alternative to glass, stainless steel, lined steel, high silicon cast iron, PP (polypropylene) and PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) for chemical waste and an excellent choice for long-term value. The material can withstand temperatures up to 220 degrees F. In many cases, CPVC is the most suitable solution on the market because it overcomes the most common drawbacks associated with other materials.

CPVC pipe and fittings are convenient to handle, easy to install, and competitively priced against alternative materials. They will not rust, pit, scale, corrode, or promote interior buildup. Once installed, a CPVC system is virtually maintenance-free, lowering your total cost of ownership over the life of the system.

The ChemDrain CPVC pipe and fitting system is much easier to join than PP or PVDF systems, which require a mechanical or heat fusion installation. CPVC pipe is lightweight – approximately one-sixth the weight of iron – and requires no special tools for cutting.

CPVC pipe and fittings are joined by solvent cement, the most popular material used in the chemical processing industry to join thermoplastic pipe and fittings. All you need to do is:
  • Cut the pipe square, de-burr and bevel.

  • Apply specially formulated ChemDrain CPVC OneStep Solvent Cement to the pipe end and fitting hub.

  • Insert the pipe into the fitting hub, give a quarter turn and hold steady for a few seconds.
