Set on 80 acres of land and backed by an $80 million investment, Charlotte Pipe’s plastics manufacturing facility in Maize, Kansas, which opened in August 2025, introduces a new chapter of innovation for one of America’s leading manufacturers of pipe and fittings.

Marking the company’s seventh plastics facility in the United States, the 175,000-square-foot Maize plant houses several plastic pipe extrusion lines to produce PVC pipe for plumbing and irrigation applications.

Charlotte Pipe produces a broad range of plastics solutions, including ABS, PVC, CPVC, FlowGuard Gold®, and ChemDrain® pipe and fittings for both residential and commercial plumbing systems. These products are manufactured at Charlotte Pipe’s state-of-the-art facilities, which are spread across the country from Monroe, North Carolina, to Cedar City, Utah, and now Maize, Kansas.

“We are very excited about the opportunity to expand our operations in the Midwest,” said Hooper Hardison, CEO of Charlotte Pipe and Foundry. “Maize is ideally located in the center of the country to help us better serve our customers. It is also a fast-growing, business-friendly community with an excellent workforce we can draw from to staff our new plant.”

For Charlotte Pipe, opening the Maize facility also means opening the door to employment opportunities for the local community. The new plant will create 50 full-time jobs and builds on the company’s proud tradition of producing high-performance plastic pipe and fittings.

A History of Plastics Manufacturing Excellence

More than half a century ago, Charlotte Pipe took a pivotal step forward when it launched its first plastics division in Monroe, North Carolina, to complement its legacy of cast iron manufacturing. Now, as one of the nation’s leading producers of both cast iron and plastic piping systems, Charlotte Pipe offers unmatched expertise in these popular plumbing materials.

Since opening the Monroe facility in 1967, the company’s plastics production has reached new heights. In 1981, the Cameron, Texas, plant was built to serve Texas and its neighboring states. Over the past 10 years, and most recently in 2024, Charlotte Pipe has expanded its operations in Cameron and strengthened its investment in the community.

In 1989, a second satellite plastics plant was established in Muncy, Pennsylvania, followed by the Wildwood, Florida, satellite plant 10 years later, establishing a path for growth that has since resulted in additional manufacturing facilities in Huntsville, Alabama, and Cedar City, Utah.

Along the way, the plumbing industry has experienced numerous material innovations, including the launch of FlowGuard Gold for hot and cold water distribution in 1996 and the introduction of the ChemDrain system for chemical waste drainage in 2006.

As a fifth-generation, family-owned company, Charlotte Pipe remains committed to producing high-quality products that are made in the USA and built to help protect the health of the nation. The Maize facility represents the next step in advancing that mission, supporting long-term growth, efficiency, and durability.
